Sri Datla Gopala Krishnam Raju joined the Police Department as Deputy Superintendent of Police on 1-3-1970 and worked as Sub Divisional Police officer, Srikakulam district in October 1971, where he dealt with Naxalite menace by conducting special pooling operations. He also worked as Assistant Commissioner of police in Hyderabad city from 1974-76.
Sri Datla Gopala Krishnam Raju worked in Anti Corruption Bureau in 3 capacities i.e., as Deputy Superintendent of Police, Deputy Director and Joint Director. He also worked as superintendent of Police, Ananthapur district. As Superintendent of Plice of Vigilance Cell, Tirupathi, he launched a massive trade in corruptiong smuggling of essential commodities like paddy, rice in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. |

| As Superintendent of Police, CID from August 1991, he was incharge of Crime pertaining to Rayalaseema region and Kadapa, Chittoor, Ongole, Nellore, Ananthapur and Kurnool districts known for highly factious crime. As DIG of Police in Excise and Enforcement department he initiated Law of measures to control smuggling of IML, ID Liquor and adulteration of Toddy. |
